Cultivating the next generation of gardeners

DGC is proud to partner with Pauline Robbins YMCA for our award-winning Youth Gardening Program. This after-school and summer camp program engages and exposes young gardeners to a hands-on curriculum in horticulture, healthy eating, conservation and STEM learning.

We meet bi-weekly on Thursday afternoons during the school year, and bi-weekly on Thursdays at midday during summer camp sessions at the Robbins YMCA.

In 2025, the Youth Gardening Program was honored to receive the Youth Involvement Award by the Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland.

Like getting your hands dirty in the garden? Want to work with children? Anyone is welcome to develop simple 45-minute lessons, write grants or present lessons!

Seeking Community Sponsors

The DGC Youth Gardening Program is approaching its 3rd year at the YMCA. We are seeking community sponsors to ensure another successful year with the kids in the garden.

  • Soil, seeds, and tools for one of our 13 raised garden beds
  • Educational materials and gardening workshops
  • Healthy snacks and tasty samples made from what the children grow
  • Continued mentorship and environmental education year-round

Download the submission form and sponsor letter at the link below and send in your check today. We are grateful for your support!
