“Deer Hunter” (1978)
Bryan Gomes hiked the length of the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine – 2190 miles in 5.5 months. He will share his personal stories and beautiful photographs of the flora, fauna, people, and places he encountered on this trip of a lifetime. He’ll show us the backpack and gear he carried on this challenging journey. Who knows– maybe this presentation will inspire your own hiking adventure on this famous “footpath for those who seek fellowship in the wilderness”—not that we have to roam far to become Deer Hunters in our own backyards as these lovely creatures devour many of our local landscapes!

Speaker:Bryan Kent Gomes, a UME Master Naturalist, has almost two decades of environmental education, watersports activities, public outreach and team building experience to his credit. He has a B.A. in Marketing/Psychology and a M.Ed. in Post-Secondary Education from Salisbury University. Bryan has served as a Park Ranger for Anne Arundel County and the Maryland Park Service, as well as a Director/Coordinator of various summer camps in the Annapolis area. He spent the last 8 years serving in a variety of roles for the environmental organization, Oyster Recovery Partnership. Bryan loves to travel--in 2009, he spent two months in New Zealand learning about aquaculture and sustainable resource management, and subsequently traveled to the Galapagos in 2014 where he learned about Darwin’s studies of evolution and the biodiversity there. In 2017, he had the opportunity to visit Cuba. Bryan is passionate about the outdoors, He has thru-hiked the entire Appalachian Trail, from Georgia to Maine, and lived in a tent on the beach at Assateague State Park while working as a lifeguard. Bryan lives in Annapolis near the shores of the Severn River and enjoys swimming, fishing, paddling, cooking, beekeeping, and his moonlighting gigs as a DJ. bryankentgomes@gmail.com, 410-991-2770.

Class 2. HB pg. 74, Section C. Construction Design incorporating a featured object (HB pg. 81, Section C.1.a.). Designers will be provided the object, a metal fabric sample measuring 5-3/4 x 6.” Limited to four designers who must pre-register with Kay Karminski by July 10, 2020.
