NGC Goals & Objectives: Floral Design, Education and Community Engagement and FUN!

Program:“Toy Story” (2019)
Art therapy is “a therapeutic technique rooted in the idea that creative expression can foster healing and mental well-being,” according to Stuckley and Nobel in the American Journal of Public Health. “This form of therapy is used to help people explore their emotions, develop self-awareness, cope with stress and work on social skills.” The Eastern Shore Hospital Center has a vibrant art therapy program and the Treatment Mall staff are proud to provide a productive means for patients to share their emotions and experiences in a way that can be both therapeutic and transformative. Today’s program engages DGC designers in the floral interpretation of patient art displayed in English Hall that reflect’s that patient’s journey, specifically floral arrangements in a Reflective design by an individual or team of novice and experienced designers(Companion Design) or a design type of the creator’s choice (Designer’s Choice) using a toy as an accessory (hence the movie name associated with this month!).
