Speaker: Jeanne Bernard served two terms as president of Dorchester Garden Club, having previously volunteered for numerous other club positions as an officer and chair of various committees since joining the club in 2007. A Master Gardener and Landscape Design Consultant, Jeanne is now Director of District 1 of the FGCMD. She is passionate about flowers, gardening and design and she enjoys teaching and conducting workshops. Jeanne was raised to love gardening by maternal grandparents who were immigrant farmers and a mother who loved landscaping and art. Jeanne began a floral design business, Artemesia, when her children were young in the early eighties. On her ½ acre plot of land in Silver Spring, Jeanne grew many of the flowers and foliage she used in her designs, and she was and still is an avid forager! She continues to love gardening, albeit now in a coastal setting where the winds, tides and forest critters challenge her every day! She still does professional floral design work for weddings and events, although that has been significantly curtailed by the Covid pandemic.
